Micro Yamaguchi Revol mini rm-001 Solid Snake

I did not play metal gear solid, so I know nothing about this guy or what so ever. But I kind of like how this guy and that Raiden looks and thinking about getting one. And finally I pick up this guy so I could also experience this new Revol Mini line.

Appearance

He does look sweet. I think they did it quite well for paint and details for figures at this small.

 

Proportion is good although a bit too bulky at its biceps and thigh for my taste. Over all, well done.

Joints and articulation
Basically, he possessed the standard articulation structure of a normal Revoltech figure. The biggest difference is at the ‘revol’ joint itself. It does looks and function as a revolver joints, but without its “ratchet” construction or those “click-click” sounds. I think that’s why they did not placed revolver joint picture on its box. The rotation point functions just as much as others pivot and produce more smooth movements. . It seems nothing special for anyone who get used to others articulated figures, but if you knows revoltech, you know that this add much to it, because now, he could stands really well without any needs of those crappy revoltech stand..

 

Heads and neck
Revol joint connecting head to neck and I think it is the same at neck to body connection. So it is basically has the ability to make free movements everywhere,
UNFORTUNATELLY,
, his collar DOES getting in its way very much. It is made of hard plastic, and hinders his head to moves around freely. He could still do a look down and look up very well though.

Hands, shoulder and chest area
Swivel hands, revol joint at elbow and shoulder, pretty much the same with standard revoltech so there is nothing to complain about.
Its shoulder joints are covered with soft piece of armor. I think this is a good attachment. If you feel the armor hinder his shoulder movements, you could rotate it to any un-hider position.  It attached using small strap though, so you’ll need to be careful not to cut it off.

It seems that this guy still inherit the old revoltech-human-body type , which make him looks a bit weird in his normal position , I think that because of his bulky side chest area. It just like he is using too much steroid while building his upper body muscle :). Well, good thing is it does not really matter while doing his dynamic pose.
Main body
Just like Sanada yukimura, snake body is made by having a crouch silhouette at his middle section, with additional chest to abs joint for him to make side bent movement. His abs joint allows him to do a big bent down movement, which is great imo. Not really much for back bending though. His body rotation is a little bit hinder, but does not much complain for me.  Over all, great body construction and better than regular revoltech body IMO.

Hips and legs

Revol joints at upper thighs, knee, and ankle. He has bulky thigh, but it moves fluently and not hinder thanks to his soft “under wear”. Pretty much free movements everywhere.

 

WARNINGS!!!
Unlike those detachable, switchable and even replaceable revolver joints, revol mini ‘revol' joints does not have these features. I almost broke his left elbow joint while thinking about the same thing and trying to detach its lower arm. Pictures below show few points that you still could safely detached. Beyond that, try it with your own risk :)

Accessories
Accessories wise, he got decent amount of them, although my only interest are on his pistol and riffle. For alternative hands, he has one for his binoculars, two for holding his guns, and one of the not-recommended-for-health smoking hands. He also has this small piece of not-recommended-for-health cigarette, placed in plastic along with the revoltech stand. There is another round clear base for him which kind of cute IMO. He also has this clear action base 'adapter' which I still have not found any clues about how to use it.

Another neat feature which also appears in others metal gear series is its moveable eyes. It also has this white peg for moving the eyes, which I think did not functioned really well because it’s big peg.

Size comparison
He is a taller than 3,75 inch Gi Joes and almost the same with SIC Kiwami, so he won’t be a loner. Could nicely blend with others small figures.

Final thought
Pretty amazing for this scale of figure so he’s definitely recommended. His only downfall is perhaps his relatively high price consider to his small size :). But if you really like small figures, I still say that you, at least, pick and get one of this revol mini figures considering this line probably gone be the best among 4 inch line of figures.
