Robot Damashii (spirits) #141 Side MS Banshee Norn Unicorn Mode

 

 The looks

I am actually not a fan of banshee-unicorn type of gundam. They just looks to 'square' for me. The paint job is good, well.. it does not have to many color anyway :). In the term of proportion, I think it goes well. The legs are feel a bit skinnier or perhaps longer, but I think this is how things works for the unicorn type of gundam. I kinda like the horn and head of this figure by the way.

Joints and articulation

- Neck : ball joint and hinge (i think). The snap fit is good and has good range of motion.

Can turn 360 degree without hinder. Nothing to complaint about.




- Shoulder : the armor shoulder connected by an open hinge, so it is detachable. Its attached fairly good.
Ball joint's cup in the shoulder attached on hinge for a little up and down movement ( I'm personally preferred forward and back movement by the way).

 Swivel for the upper arm , which give good wide range of movement.




Problem is that the swivel for my figure feels too tight, it sometimes push the ball joint out of the cup when i tried to move the arms open. Just need to be careful when posing it.

- Arms : Have all good standard roda joints. rotation hinge at top, double jointed elbow, ball joint at wrist. I like the lower arm gimmick for beam sabre handle placement. it could also perform destroy's  "arm saber mode" if you remove the front part. Cool.

   - Abs and Waist : i think the abs use a hinge and could give a decent front crouch , but not back movement. The waist is on ball joint which give a bit side crouch but disappointingly can only rotate less than 90 degree because being hindered by the back skirt.

 Good thing is, the back skirt can be displaced with careful so it could perform rotation of 360 degree, just in case you need better posing from the front view.

 The front and back skirt could move and wont hinder the leg movement. The side skirts attached on a ball joint and could easily detach for some extreme side leg movement.

  
  - Back Pack : Looks great. it has pegs for holding beam handle. The handle is removable.

- Tight : The waist are ball joint with the ability to split quite well. Unfortunately, mine are feel loose, so kicking poses will be a bit of problems. Pivot joint at upper tight for leg rotation.

 -  Knee joint : very good with double joint. knee armor part has slide movement when bended to more than 90.

- Ankle and foot : standard roda joint and movement. There is small movement to close/open leg thruster.

 

  
  Accessories

Accessories are actually the best part and my main reason for buying this dude. They are great looking and many of them has gimmick ( movable parts = gimmick ? )

- Beam magnum : Unicorn Beam magnum is one of my fave. Gun and the ammo clips looks sexy IMHO :).  It has a revolving launcher attached (i think will be better if it removable) and also some movement at the handler and peg.

 - Armed Armor DE (?) : The big shield. it could attached at arms using additional peg or at the backpack. It has several movable and optional parts which i don't have any idea what are they for ( i haven't watch or read the anime/manga completely). Well, it looks great, period.

  - Beam saber : love how they paint the beam effect. Unfortunately the connection pegs are too small so it will not be compaible with others robot damashii or high grade kit beam handle. There are also only two of them, so although you have total of four handles , you won't be able to perform the four blade posing :(.

 - THE CLAW : My favorite. It have many joints (twelve if I'm not mistaken) and it's fairly BIG :). I have nothing to compare at the moment but according of some review that I've seen, this version of claw has the better articulation compare to its HGUC and even MG counterpart.

 - revolver & ammo parts : just for accessories to be attached at back skirt or legs. Can not be replaced with the one at beam magnum. I like to pose the revolver at the hand by the way :).

 


- optional hand : standard RODA optional hand. Ball joint connection to the wrist. See picture for all option. I think i have not lost any of them :).

Final thought : The figure it self is pretty standard for robot damashii type, so i will not say much about it. But if you are a fans, i will recommended this guy , especially because of his awesome accessories.
